We are staying in the Ballygalley Apartments which is set in 5 acres of a designated “Area of Natural Beauty” on the Antrim Coast in Northern Ireland.
Just down the road is Ballygally Castle where Clare and Brad will be married on Friday.
Many of us Game of Thrones fans know the centuries old Dark Hedges as the Kingsroad of Westeros. This breathtaking length of road which travels beneath the famous towering beech tree tunnel in Northern Ireland is one of the most remarkable sights of nature to be seen. Noel and I will be lucky enough to see it on Sunday on our Games of Thrones Tour.
Two of these amazing trees had fallen due to Storm Gertrude in 2016. A loss which no one can replace as these trees were hundreds of years old. Devastated, HBO and Tourism Northern Ireland found a way to keep their beauty alive by creating ten doors from the fallen wood which depicts scenes from the beloved TV series. We will endeavour to see as many as we can whilst in NI.
Game of Thrones Door at Ballygally Castle - 9 of 10. This door echoes the 'Battle of the Bastards' it symbols both House Stark and House Bolton. Swords and shields litter the door like a bloody battlefield.
The many views we encountered of Ballygally.
