Today we left Galway and headed for Dublin to catch the ferry to Liverpool. Along the way we stopped at Sallins to do a barge trip along the canal. The trip took us up-to the aqueduct.
The barge meanders out of Sallins, passes Soldiers Island and there's a stop atop the aqueduct spanning the Liffey.
The barge is a restored traditional canal barge that can carry 12 passengers. Sallins is where trade on the Grand Canal first began when passenger and cargo barges started hauling their horse drawn loads between the small Kildare village and Dublin in 1780. Three years later the engineers overcame one of their first major obstacle - crossing over the river Liffey.
We then drove into Dublin and found the ferry terminal. We wandered around the area a bit before checking in for the trip.
We boarded the ferry and found our cabin. Very comfortable with its own ensuite. Not much smaller than our cabin on our Greek Island Cruise. We headed to dinner which iwas quite good. We had beef and Yorkshire pudding and blackforest cake for dessert. They had a bar and lounges however we decided to watch movies in our cabin.
